Preface

The Kite is the most basic tie in loryu. It puts the upper body in a similar shape like a gote or tk and works with multiple technikes of rope- and bodyhandling present in other patterns.

  • 1x 6-8m 4mm Looped Rope

Sequence

01.

The tie starts at the back.

02.

One arm is brought to the back with a wrist flex.

03.

The Hojo loop is pulled over the lower arm.

04.

One Z-Half Hitch is laid over the lower arm.

05.

The other arm gets pulled in front of the first one. No wrist flex is necessary.

06.

A Z- Half Hitch is tied around the second lower arm. The running end is pulled from the hand side.

07.

Another round turn turns the Half Hitch into a Munter Hitch.

08.

Pull a bight with the running end from right to left under the connecting strand between the arms.

09.

Tie an overhand not with the rest of the running end. The knot gets properly dressed.

10.

Pull over Triple Heater 11 (TH11) on the lower part of the upper first arm…

11.

Hook itself from bottom to top, forming a S-Half Hitch.

12.

Pull a bight to the front with the upper part directly below the armpit.

13.

Lay around the upper part of the arm over Large Intestine 14 (LI14) and pull through the bight, forming a S-Half Hitch.

14.

Run straight across the chest and over Large Intestine 14 (LI14).

15.

Hook the strand across the chest from top to bottom, forming a Z-Half Hitch.

16.

Pull a bight between arm and chest.

17.

Lay the rope over Triple Heater 11 (TH11) and through the bight from right to left, forming a Z- Half Hitch.

18.

Pull the rope between the hands and back to the right arm.

19.

Grab the bight from the right arm from right to left, forming an elbow.

20.

Go straight to the left bight an pull the rope under the bight, forming an elbow.

21.

Pull the rope to the right of the neck, over the throat in the front and back over itself.

22.

Tie off the working end on the right bight with a slip knot.
